Jamie Scruggs

League Director

Coach Scruggs has coached football and been involved in FCA for the last 20 years.  Recently, he has been called into a deeper role with FCA in order to create a 7 on 7 football league.  As a graduate of the Religion department at Samford University, Coach Scruggs has spent his entire career incorporating faith into coaching.  In his 20 years of coaching, he has been blessed to have almost 100 players go on to play in college.  As a coordinator, his offenses have led the state of Alabama in scoring multiple times, as well as having Back of the Year finalists and Alabama Offensive Players of the Year.

Coach Scruggs on working with FCA: "We're here to minister to the high school player and the high school coach. We will focus on spiritual and skill development and as a result help the player become a better teammate and the kind of player that every coach wants in his locker room. Please join me in praying for our players, coaches, and spiritual leaders that will pour into these kids over the next several months."

Luke Prewett

Head Coach

Luke Prewett is a dedicated former athlete and recent graduate from the University of Alabama, where he earned a degree in Kinesiology with a focus on Exercise Science. A Birmingham native, he graduated from Briarwood Christian School in 2020, where he made a significant impact on the school's varsity football team. As a three-year starter and captain during his senior year, he showcased exceptional skill and leadership, finishing among the top categories in all-purpose yards, scoring, rushing averages, rushing attempts, and longest kick return average.

Throughout his high school career, Prewett attracted attention from Division I programs, receiving walk-on offers from institutions such as UAB, UTC, and Austin Peay, along with interest from smaller Division III schools, but he chose a different route. Over the past four years, he has trained athletes across various age ranges, from the youth to individuals in their late 60s. This has given him valuable experience working independently and with different organizations.

During his internship with The Lab USA, Luke had the opportunity to train former Georgia Bulldog Kamari Lassiter, now a starter for the Houston Texans, as well as Sawyer Deerman, a Wide Receiver at San Jose State. Luke credits a lot of his experience and exposure to his mentor Donnie Lee who is a former Florida sprinter and Alabama football player. Working with these talented athletes and trainers significantly boosted his confidence as a leader, mentor, and coach. The Lab was crucial in connection to Lukes success by helping him collaborate with several high schools in the Tuscaloosa area.

Additionally, he worked at Godspeed Elite Sports Academy, where he was responsible for training athletes from youth levels up to NFL veteran Nick Williams and overseas basketball star Ricky Tarrant. His diverse experience extends to working with athletes in football, basketball, baseball, track, soccer, softball, golf, lacrosse, and tennis, making him knowledgeable in most sports performance.
